"Knight on Wheels" is an independent feature film, produced with an ultra-low budget and situated within the crime drama genre. Inspired by American cinema of the 1970s and 1980s, the project proposes a Brazilian narrative that explores the landscapes and symbols of São Paulo, the largest metropolis in Brazil, to portray the journey of its protagonist, the Knight. Immersed in the criminal underworld, he must overcome a tragic past to transform his life and escape his own darkness. In this process, he consults a fortune teller who raises fundamental questions: To what extent can a man discover and influence his own destiny? Is he subject to the forces of nature, or shaped by society and environment?
"Knight on Wheels" is a profound and enigmatic work that challenges audiences to reflect on human agency and the role of fate. These universal themes are deeply embedded in human nature, rooted in ancestral practices of divination and the enduring desire to foresee and control the future. At the same time, philosophical, religious, and cultural debates about destiny have long permeated human history.

These concepts subvert expectations of the crime drama genre, reimagined through a contemporary, urban, and stylized lens. In this context, São Paulo transcends its role as a backdrop and becomes a decisive force in shaping the characters, reflecting their histories and social conditions. The city’s contrasting elements, from the indifference of concrete to the playfulness of urban lights, create a persistent duality that reinforces the film’s central themes.
Another key element is the presence of the fortune teller, a deeply constructed character who serves as the protagonist’s mentor. The film is also grounded in a careful technical and theoretical approach to tarot reading, incorporating the symbolic meanings of the cards in direct relation to the protagonist’s conflicts. Bold and innovative, "Knight on Wheels" stands as the first Brazilian film to explore cartomancy with such depth and narrative relevance.
The project is further distinguished by the participation of acclaimed filmmaker Armando Fonseca in the directing team and internationally recognized actor Tristan Aronovich in the lead role. Shot in the second half of 2022 with a budget of only US$ 6,000, the film transforms financial limitations into bold and creative solutions, achieving strong technical execution and high production value.
